Dear Dauntless, Ya, but do we ever have fun and I know all kinds of real neat first aid tricks like removing fish hooks from ears and fingers without ruining the fish hook. You slice the ear a little bit and just slide the hook out. Come on, i'll take care of you! Chaz

Dear Dave, that must have been another Chaz. Would I do any of those cruel things? Heck yes!
I am looking forward to getting you out in the swamp one nice day. I can see it in my mind's eye, "HERE BEAR, HERE BEAR! Now you just stand there with that honey that I smeared all over you Dave ol' buddy, ol' chum. When the bear comes I will get some wonderful action video footage of the bear licking the honey off you. Stand real still now, we don't want to scare the bear."
And now you know what happened to all of my friends.
Chaz
P.S. And that water snake that I threw into your canoe was an accident, I meant to throw it on you, and not only that but it was only two and a half feet long. Darn man, will you stop exaggerating! Good to hear from you buddy, C.

Ya got 'um all fooled, Chaz! They think you're some kindly ol' gentle poet! Tell um how you snatched a three foot water snake out of a tree and tossed it in the canoe with me, how you double powdered your muskeet for me, and the vinergaroon!!! ("close your eyes and hold out your hand")
Great blog, old friend, and so good to read you again.

Dave

Dear Aspiring Writer, Yep, 73 going on 12, you know, forever young but without a time machine.
There is a bit of magic dust that I am going to send to you via bug. The next bug you see will have sprinkled my magic dust on you before you see it so above all else, please don't smash him, he is a good bug.
There, it has already happened! You won't immediately notice a difference but now you are going to feel a desire to write. You say you already had a desire to write! Well see, that only shows that the magic dust is working!
Read, my young friend. Read the classics, read the bible, read outlandish stuff. Take notes, journal as though your life depended upon it for your 'writing' life does. Watch people, be aware of your own thoughts, let the muse whisper in your ear, (sometimes she will bite but it is small price to pay.) Above all, write, write, write and then write some more. God created in each of us a bit of magic, it is called the imagination, use it. Don't waste your time with television for it will sap you dry and give you nothing. And above all else, Enjoy life, Chaz

As I read your blog and looked at your pictures I can hardly believe that you are 73 years old. You sound so youthful, so full of life. I am just beginning to journal and search for inspiration and after reading some of your work you obviously don't lack that requisite quality. How can someone such as myself, with little of life's adventures to draw upon learn to write with passion? Thanks for taking me into the top of the tree! Aspiring Writer

Hey Charles,
I'm scared of heights but I sure love trees and not just because the squirrels live there. On my slow and careful climb upward to that marvelous view you wrote so well about, I've also found some pretty delicious fruit for picking - and yes, some birds' nests, squirrel nests and some fabulous blossoms and artfully carved leaves. I have also seen the handiwork of industrious woodpeckers, inscribing their monograms with their incessant beaks.
Best wishes from your fellow tree climber,

www.greyandred.blogspot.com

Dear Glow, Oh what a magical name! I can imagine the Queen of the fairies up there in your tree ruling over her subjects. And by the way, her name is, yes, that's right, her name is Glow. Down below, in a crack in the face of the cliff is a troll who hates the fairies but more than anything he hates Queen Glow and plans to capture her and carry her deep underground and hold her captive where no fairy, no matter how brave, can follow.
There you are Queen Glow, it is yours, have fun. Charles

Dear Charles, I am a beginning writer. I put off what I should have been doing all along, I delayed writing under the pretext that I was too busy guiding my three wonderful children and now that they are adults I have no excuse left.
As a girl I loved to climb trees.
Near our home was a grove of large oaks and one of them was so immense it was, or so it seemed, a fairy realm. The branches ran every which way like the spokes of a wheel and they were large enough to walk on, our very own system of streets and highways in the sky. Oh the wonderful times, the adventures that materialized up there in (our) tree. I had forgotten that wondrous, magical tree until I read your article. Thanks so much for helping me to remember Charles, now I can write.
My name is Gloria but my favorite aunt always called me Glow so that is what you can call me,
Glow
