"Fear not, for I am with thee...be not dismayed for I am your God"
Great advice, don't ya think? God is so wise to put that in the Bible...cuz He knew we'd be afraid...He knew that we'd need to be reminded and He just wants us to trust Him...I only really fear the day that I forget Him...that is definitely something to fear.
mh

I believe we truly are not living unless we feel fear once in a while. There have been times when I'm driving, when I don't get a call from my son who is in Bahgdad or when I slip in my deer stand 24 feet in a tree that I get scared and I pray that I never get to the place that I loose all fears. It keeps us mortal and keeps the blood flowing.

Dear Phobic, I am afraid that your fear is much worse than reality. Sure, those things do happen to people but billions of folks just like you and I go to bed each and every night without any of those things happening. You are not in a bad place. You at least know that you are afraid!
A good psychotherapist can help you. Much of your fear is caused by negative self talk, the stuff you tell yourself, until it controls you.
I wish I could talk to you on a one on one basis.
I am not by any stretch of the imagination a psychotherapist but having defeated fear in my own life I know you can do this.
Get yourself to a therapist, yesterday! Life awaits you. One thing that I have discovered is that my God is a loving and kind god. That misconception that leads to unreasoning fear of the almighty is just that, a misconception.
Please stay in touch,
Charles

I am afraid! I am afraid of failing. I am afraid of making a mistake. I am afraid that if I am a success that success will be taken from me. I am afraid that if I get married my husband will leave me. I am afraid that I am sick and that I am going to die. I am afraid of driving because I might get in an accident and be horribly mutilated. I am afraid of animals, people, storms, water, spiders, snakes, birds, lightening, death, the hereafter and god. I am afraid. I am so afraid that I cannot function. I haven't left my room in my parent's home for five years other than to go down the hall to the bathroom. I am afraid.
Phobic

Hey Chuck, I agree, fear is good. The trouble is that this new, younger generation, doesn't seem to have any fear at all, therefore they have much greater chance of getting burned in everyday life.

Hey Chuckles, Chef Jeff here. The only fear I have is hearing Jesus say those seven fearful words, "Depart from me, I never knew you".

Chaz, for over seven years I suffered from an out of control fear of dogs which I can trace back to the time when I was ten years old and a neighbor's dog attacked me. The dog tore my left arm so badly that now, nearly twenty years later the scars are still very pronounced. I came to the place where I was confined to our home for nearly seven years. Only with the help of our family doctor and a very good therapist was I able to finaly arrive at the place where I can rationally handle my fear. It is still there but I can live with it, function with it, in an almost normal way. Thanks for the article on fear,
Once Bitten, Twice Scared
