Dear Concerned, A happy parent and Not so concerned, Please keep the feedback coming.
I don't believe that there can be any healthy growth without the imagination.
T.V. has drained the imagination of several generations of children until all too often all that is left are a bunch of empty husks rattling in the wind.
Thanks again and keep them coming, Chaz

Dear Concerned,
Allow me to suggest that we Christians have been teaching that animals talk for many generations. Allow me to refresh your memory...

"Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" - Genesis 3: 1

Umm...seems like your generation and the one before that were taught to believe that animals could speak. Maybe that's what's wrong with us...we are governed by our imaginations and not reason.

C'mon...there's no harm in a little fantasy.

Not That Concerned

PS - Dr. DooLittle concurs.

Chaz, I have grown up reading The Chronicles of Narnia, The Hobbit series and lately Brian Jacques, who by the way, with the Prelude, you show a similar style. I am a parent with three wonderful children and they have been raised to use their imaginations and do you know what? They are three dynamic kids that have been raise to use their imaginations, to think outside of the box. I am sorry for Concerned, what a sad attitude. Keep it coming.
A happy parent

Dear Concerned,
The challenge as I see it is to encourage children to use their imagination. As a teacher of some twenty five years I have watched two generations take a downward spiral into reason. Encourage the imagination and you will see children grow into healthy adults. Keep writing Chas, I enjoy your blogs. I read a lot of blogs and never comment but this one I had to reply to.
A well liked teacher

Chaz,
Do you think it is proper to teach children that animals talk? That is one of the things that is wrong with today's children, they are governed by their imaginations and not reason.
Concerned
