<description>Sorry Shame (aka dog lover), but you demonstrate a supreme lack of understanding about the nature of a dog pack. The dogs had formed one, and would continue to kill as one until stopped. Frankly, I don't put much hope in the idea that the dogs' owners would have stopped it. Since the dogs act differently while separate, the owners would never have believed that "Fido" was capable of savagely killing or maiming a helpless person. Not until they'd seen the pack in action--and no one should have been willing to let it get that far. Chaz certainly wasn't, and he probably saved someone's life.

As far as civil disobedience was concerned, Chaz broke no laws. I don't know of any law that says you can't shoot an animal that's threatening the public safety. Not in my state anyway.

<description>To the screwball, numbskull, dimwitted, addlepated, halfwitted, imbicilic, moronic, boob that called itself a dog lover, if you were ever attacked by a pack of dogs on the hunt you would want a real man like chaz there at your side to protect your sorry butt!
And I will provide the shotgun!

		<description>Dear real dog lover,
Thanks for the supportive role you have taken. Your words are all that is needed, believe me when I say they are kudoes enough and, "thats all I have to say about that."

		<description>Dear Shame,
I frankly don't believe you are a dog lover and you are certainly not capable of rational thought. Chaz was able to think for himself that fateful day. Believe you me, I would have done the same thing rather than allow my family to be ravaged by a pack of dogs.
Yes, you are right, in this day and age when people like you are accustomed to letting others take care of you Chaz would be in deep water but as I have read his blogs I am sure this happened many years ago and it is unlikely that the "authorities" would have done anything other than lend their support to his actions in those days. As I figuratively sit at your knee and read your accounts of yesterday all I can say is, Kudoes to you Chaz, keep on writing.

<description>This is one of the most blatant examples of outright civil disobedience I have ever heard of. You should have been locked up and the key should have been thrown away. This is what the authorities are for. You should have called the police and allowed them and the dog's owners to sort it out. Shame, shame shame!

		<description>Dear Cherylp,
As usual it is always good to hear from you my friend.
Even though my conciense bothered me I believe that time has vindicated my actions on that one.
There are certain instances that dictate necessity and instant action and that was one of them.
I chopped a hole through the river ice and pushed the dead through to a watery grave to be eaten by the crayfish. (Nothing is wasted in the wild places.)
I am sure that in some instances those dogs were accustomed to being petted lovingly by their owners each evening but if those owners had been there that day to witness the dark fury unleashed I am sure they would have agreed with my actions,

I would have shot them dead on the spot. I probably wouldn't even have given them the benefit of the doubt, as you did.

I think you saved someone from horrible injury or death.</description>

		<description>Chuck.
I didn't realize that dogs that were farm pets could be so destructive. I would kind of expect that behaviour from wolves ect. It kind of goes with my opinion of dogs, and all pets, that the owner should be responsible for them at all times? and when not attended be put on a leash, or in a confined area.

		<description>Chuck,
I could not have said it better! There has to be something wrong with anyone who keeps a dog with that type of personality. My great-grandson was bitten on the face by a bulldog - fortunatly, it just missed his eye and it healed very well. The same dog attacted my husband when he was riding his bike and he got several bites on his ankle and lower calf. I am totaly in favor of "very hard and firm" comfinment laws for dog owners. Even if the dogs don't bite, they leave "gifts" on your front lawn! Oh, yes, for all you dog lovers out there - save your breath - I do have a dog - a controlled sweet tempered one!
