Hi Charles,
I hope you are staying safe out there in the woods. Your life is certainly interesting and you have many talents for bringing pieces of it to the rest of us with your blog and photography.
J.G.

The Falling Man
All the kings horses and all the kings men.

Umm, the redline... Falling from a great height is an interesting thing. When you get a chance do a Google search on Norberto Hernandez. There are a few things we can all learn from his GREAT FALL.

As we approach election day we should reflect on the image of Norberto and say NEVER AGAIN and vote accordingly.

The Duke

Dear Clambake, I am sorry for not getting back to you sooner concerning your question about developing your imagination. I am going to approach your question from an oblique angle and probably a couple of feedings instead of all at once.
In my "Redline" article I spoke of my Imagi-bird and a wonderful bird he is. The Imagibird must be fed the proper food in order to grow and thrive. Books, he loves books, all sort of books but it has been noted that he will languish and eventually die if you try to fee him television drivel as a regular diet. That said let's explore the issue of whether or not you have an imagination to begin with. Many feel that they have no such thing but in reality they use their imagi-muscle all of the time. Yes I called it a muscle because the more we use it the stronger it becomes. Think of it, you use your imagi-muscle when you write a letter, cook a meal, go to a movie, listen to music, read a book, paint a picture, any one of myriad little commonplace things that require thought. Males tend to use their imaginations more when they are thinking of sex, females when they are thinking about romance and no guys, they are not the same.
Start nurturing your Imagi-bird today. Take him, her, it, for a walk, look at the sunset, watch a colony of ants and imagine yourself down there with them. You are that big fellow carrying the boulder to impress that cute little girl ant.
Start today. Believe me, you have an imagination you just haven't spent any time with him lately.
Chaz

Dear Genius, Hey, I am pleased that you enjoy my writing style. Having lived my 73 years surrounded by critics your criticism is refreshing and accepted in the constructive sense it was given. I will watch my use of the catastrophe from this moment forward. Keep reading. You will notice that there are oblique references to my friend and constant companion, the creator, Papa God

Chaz, I checked out your website. I'm impressed! You certainly have a vivid imagination and a unique, colorful writing style. Having spent many years in technical writing and editing, I tend to be very critical of writers - I just can't quit editing. I found very little in your stories to criticize. I have only two criticisms:

(1) Learn the correct use of the apostrophe (one of my pet peaves).
(2) With your unique experience as a naturalist and a Bible Christian, interject more credit to the Creator for the wonders of nature.
Genius

Dear Prof. Pinky, My friend, the wise old crane, (his name is Ichabod,) is my muse. Believe me, having your muse poop on your writing is not a very nice experience and can lead to numerous editings and re-writes. I am sorry for the somewhat descriptive red line fall description but that idea keeps me pretty well focused, no wandering to the refrigerator or unnecessary jaunts to the piddle room.
You have a nice day now ya hear, Chaz
P.S. Have you ever smelled muse poop? It has an odor reminiscent of reminicence which is good for clearing the sinuses of writer's block. C

Chaz -
I enjoyed the image of your tree-top office and being advised by a crane, I can see it quite vividly
through my reader's eyes.
Your vivid description of impact after falling from the red line was a bit much for these tender eyes . . .
Prof Pinky

Chaz, my dear friend Chaz, I love to ride with you on smooth dry paved roads. But, when you make a left turn and head off down a rough gravel road to disappear in a cloud of dust.............

Barry
